On Thursday November 9th of 2023, Betty Jean Sims took her eternal rest and answered the call of her Heavenly Father after a long illness.
Betty Jean was born March 23, 1956, in Muskegon, MI to Harvey and Luanna Sims. She received her early education from Martin Luther King Jr elementary and graduated from Orchard View High School. Betty Jean accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Pastor W. L. Stewart of Queen Esther Baptist Church. Betty Jean worked many years in home health care and in nursing homes providing aid to those who could not provide for themselves. Betty Jean most recent employer was Pine Haven Nursing Facility where she worked for three years before her health began to fade and could no longer do what she enjoyed. When not working or spending time with her family, Betty Jean enjoyed going fishing and cooking, where she was known for her famous "cracklin bread". Betty Jean was a force to be reckoned with and a fierce protector of her family.
Betty Jean leaves to cherish her memories: Sister Bonnie Simms; three sons, Isaac Sims, James (T'Nesha) Sims, and Larry Sims; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.
Betty Jean was preceded in death by her mother and father Luanna and Harvey Sims Sr.; brothers: Harvey Sims Jr, Kenneth Sims Sr, Earnest Sims Sr, and Jimmie Sims Sr; Sisters: Florine Wilson, Annie Lou Willis, Francis Sims, and Florence Jones.
