Betty Brown Singley was born October 4, 1952, in Newberry, South Carolina, the fifth of 8 children to Junius Brown and Lillie Mae Wilson Brown. She departed this earthly life on Friday, July 18, 2025, in Blythewood, South Carolina.

"Baine" as she was affectionately called by her nieces and nephews, was educated in the public schools of Newberry County. She was a proud member of the Newberry High School class of 1972.

Betty retired from the Department of Social Services where she truly found her passion in helping others.

Betty lived life on her own terms, convey an independent spirit, and forged her own unique path as a young child until the end. She cherished her family dearly, loved family gatherings, enjoyed a great meal, and lived for the next laugh.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Meredith Elizabeth Brown "Libby", sister, Delores Williams of Columbia, SC, and brother, Charles Brown of Newberry, SC. Half-sisters, Mattie Brown of NC, Hattie Gaines of NY and Mary Louise Rice of SC.

Those who are cherishing loving and priceless memories of Betty are her son, Anthony J. Singley of Columbia, SC; grandson, Joshua Brown of Prosperity, SC, sisters, Doris Suber-Haynes of Blythewood, SC, Ruby Lee Booker of Stone Mountain, GA, Carolyn Sims (Thornton) and Sylvia Kay/Charlene Lane (Jackie) of Newberry, SC, brother, Cecil Brown of Newberry, SC; a host of nephews, nieces, devoted friend, Loraine Ingram, along with other loving relatives and dear friends, all whom will miss her dearly and love her always.

Funeral Service will be held 11am Saturday July 26, 2025, Trinity Baptist Church 2521 Richland St, Columbia, SC 29204

In lieu of Flowers, Donations can be made to The Lupus Foundation In Memory of Betty Brown Singley.
