Betty Lou Siscoe, age 97, passed peacefully on Monday, September 22nd at 2:31a.m. at Stonecroft Health Campus. Betty was born on August 24, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio, Montgomery County. While born in Ohio, Betty was a longtime Bloomington resident, having lived 72 ½ years in the home that she and her husband, Jim, built. Betty graduated from Ivy Tech in 1972 with honors in the licensed practical nurse program. She graduated at the top of her class. She then joined Bloomington Hospital in the radiation department until her retirement in 1982. After retirement, Jim and Betty spent 20 years as snow birds, spending many winters in South West Florida. While Jim enjoyed golfing with his sons, Betty enjoyed being with family. She especially enjoyed Sunday dinners with all the family. Betty loved crafting. Her family and friends have enjoyed many of the art and craft projects Betty has made for them over the years. Some of the treasured items include paintings, stained glass, macramé, ceramics, cross-stitch and crochet. Betty enjoyed crocheting gifts for family and friends. She used those talents to make and give away gifts to family, friends as well as nurses and friends at Stonecroft Health Campus. Betty was a 50 year member of Eastern Star, Stanford Chapter #533. Betty and Jim belong to South Union Christian Church and are blessed with many friends. Jim and Betty were married September 28, 1946, they were blessed with 72 ½ years of marriage and three sons, Dennis (Sarah), Ron (Maridean) and Tim (Kathy); six grandchildren, Angela Drescher, Heather Siscoe, Marianne Inman, Natalie Mitchell, Rachel Hinman, and David Siscoe; nineteen great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her life-long sweetheart, Jim. James passed away April 17th, 2019. The family would like to thank the very caring and loving nurses and staff at Stonecroft that helped in Betty's last days. A special thanks to the residents that have become like family to Betty in the eight years that she lived at Stonecroft. Betty will be remembered as a hard-working Christian woman much loved by family and friends. She was totally dedicated to her husband and family. A funeral service will be held at the South Union Christian Church on Tuesday, September 30th 2025, at 12pm and visitation from 10-12 beforehand. The burial will be held at Greene County Chapel Church after the service. You are invited to share a memory or leave an online condolence to Betty's family at www.allencares.com
