Betty Styron, a beloved resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on April 14, 1936, in Princess Anne County, she lived a life devoted to her family and community.
A dedicated homemaker, Betty found great joy in spending time with her family and her cherished cat, BT. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew her, and she was a long-time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she formed lasting friendships and served her community with grace. She was also an active participant in the Creeds Ladies Auxiliary, contributing her time and efforts to support local initiatives.
Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband, Elwood W. Styron; her parents, Vernon and Nancy Halstead; a sister, a brother and 2 great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Gregory (Dan) and Gloria Stagg; her sister, Martha Freeman; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home Chesapeake Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00 am at Oak Grove Baptist Church, located at 691 Princess Anne Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23457. A reception immediately following.
