Betty Louise Taylor, 84, of
Mount Carmel, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord on October 15, 2025, at 2:15 a.m., surrounded by her loving family. Betty passed peacefully after a life filled with love, service, and devotion to those around her. Born on April 5, 1941, in
Mount Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Betty (Beckerman) Hershberger. Betty spent her life deeply rooted in her community. A proud graduate of Oakland City College, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting before later pursuing her passion for learning and literacy by earning her Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Illinois.
Betty faithfully served as the librarian of the Mount Carmel Public Library, where she shared her love of reading and learning with generations of local families. Her gentle spirit, kind smile, and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on all who knew her. On December 28, 1978, Betty married Steve Taylor, and together they shared nearly forty-seven wonderful years of marriage. Their life together was filled with faith, laughter, and deep devotion to family; a partnership built on love, patience, and enduring strength.
Betty was a devout Christian, growing up in and serving the Lord through the Mount Carmel Church of God, where her faith guided every chapter of her life. In her later years, she joyfully attended the Wabash Worship Center, where she continued to worship, fellowship, and grow in her faith with her church family. Betty will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her warmth, and her boundless love for her family. Her life was one of quiet strength, grace, and steadfast devotion to God, and her memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Betty will be remembered by her devoted husband, Steve Taylor; her loving children, Stephen "Brent" Taylor and wife, Tabitha, Jarrod Banks, Tony Banks and wife, Jaimie, Damon Banks and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Kylie Hinton, Kelsey Hinton, Kaden Taylor, Dylan Banks, Ella Banks, Emma Banks, Logan Banks, Cainan Banks, Levi Banks, Sophie Banks, Luke Banks, Annie Banks, Chloe McIntire, and Ellie McIntire; great grandchildren, Ryker Banks, Keaton Banks, and Ashton Banks; bonus great grandson, Zayden. Betty's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren who brought her endless joy and laughter, filling her heart with love and pride.
Betty was preceded in death by mother, Betty Hershberger; her son, Chad Banks; her beloved sister, Barbara Fiscus; her niece, Lisa Goodson; and her brother-in-law, Bob Taylor.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2025 at Wabash Worship Center in Patton, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2025 at Wabash Worship Center with Brother Bill Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Garden Mausoleum.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to American Cancer Research Foundation or to Heart-to-Heart Hospice in Evansville, Indiana. Envelopes will be at the Church or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street,
