Mark W. Jahnke, 67, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in Chicago, IL. He was born August 24, 1958, in Libertyville, IL, was raised in North Chicago, IL and had resided in many areas of the world, living in Chicago for the past 3 years. Mark received a bachelor's degree in Geology & German from University of Illinois and a master's degree in business from Pepperdine University in California. He worked as a database administrator with Teradata Corp. in California and American Airlines Sabre in Texas which led him to live in many areas of the world including, Paris, California, Texas, New York City and Denver. Mark enjoyed gardening, aquariums, touring National Parks and had a recent interest in WWII history. He will be dearly missed by all his family, especially his nieces & nephews that will remember him as the "fun uncle" that they will always cherish.
Surviving are his siblings, Neal (Frances) Jahnke, Lynn Jahnke, David (the late Susan) Jahnke & Susan Jahnke; nieces & nephews, Sara (Tom) Balmes-Flores, Eric (Jamie) Jahnke, Erin (Matt) Greenwald, Paul (fiancée Diana Escobar) Snyder, Alex Jahnke, Greg (Lauren) Mitchell, Maureen (Kyle) Davenport, Austin (Ashley) Mitchell, Keri Clemons, Bobby Clemons, Crystal (Joe) Tomec and by great nieces & nephews, Joseph, Mila, Declan, Finley, Lorelei, AnnDee, MaryJo, Mitchell & Astrid.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Lorraine Jahnke and by a brother, Glenn Jahnke.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with interment following at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville. For info: 847-362-3009 or share a memory at www.burnettdane.com.
