Betty Jean Wilbourn, affectionately known as B.J., shuffled off this mortal coil on August 1, 2025, at the seasoned age of 86. Born in the charming town of Athens, Alabama, on March 11, 1939, she made her final curtain call in the sunny haven of Zephyrhills, Florida.
B.J. was a true aficionado of the hospitality industry, mastering every aspect with the grace of a Southern belle who could balance a tray of sweet tea while telling you the latest plot twist from her favorite TV show. Her life was a tapestry woven with interests as colorful as her nail polish collection-she had a penchant for reading, an eye for drawing and coloring, and the bravery to watch scary movies without flinching (too much).
Her grandchildren were lucky enough to compete against her in various games, though they might tell you she never let anyone win easily. Despite her feisty nature, B.J. was always the family's steadfast rock, ready to lend a helping hand or a witty quip to lift spirits. She was also a one-woman beauty salon, doing her own hair and nails with flair.
B.J. had an undeniable soft spot for animals, especially poodles, who likely found in her their most ardent cheerleader and pampering provider. Her love for her family was the cornerstone of her life, and her legacy continues through her surviving step-son, Nikki Wilbourn, along with five grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Betty, please visit our Tree Store.
