Send FlowersSPENCERVILLE -- Beverley Jeannine Place of Spencerville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at home and surrounded by her family after a long battle with breast cancer. Bev was born in Lima, Ohio to the late William and Barbara (Hole) Siegenthaler. Besides being a homemaker, she had worked at Procter & Gamble/Lima Plant for 17 years in LFC. It was there that she met her husband Mike, and they were married in 1990. She became a stay-at-home mom throughout her children's teen years. She later worked for Spencerville Quick Stop and the Canal Pharmacy, where she retired in 2022.
Bev attended Washington McKinley Elementary, South Junior High, and graduated from Lima Senior in 1979. She was active in her children and grandchildren's lives with their sports and music activities. She loved to garden, quilt and crochet, until arthritis took over her hands. She fulfilled her crafting passion creating handmade greeting cards. From a very young age, she became an avid racing fan, starting out with Sprint car racing at Limaland with her dad, then switching to NASCAR in the late 80's. Every driver she picked, she stayed with until their retirement from the sport (DW, Sterling Marlin, then Kevin Harvick, moving on to Ryan Blaney). Sundays were reserved for racing if at all possible.
Bev was baptized with her children at the Spencerville United Church of Christ, where she became a member.
Bev is survived by her husband Michael of 35 years. She had been blessed with two children; Michael (aka: Dude) D. Crisp II (Michelle Fields) of Spencerville, and her daughter, Sarah (aka: Bean) J. Ricker of Findlay, OH. She is affectionately known as Grandma B to her four grandchildren; Trevor (aka: Sugarbutt), Rylee (aka: Sugar) and Chase (aka: Sugar Pie) Crisp, and Zoe (aka: Sugar Bean) Ricker. She loved her grandchildren "to the moon and back again" which became a game to see who remembered to say it first.
She was the youngest of four children. She is survived by her brother Tom Siegenthaler, and his wife, Bonnie of Elida. Also surviving are three nieces, Tracy Bolender, Nikki Siegenthaler, and Angie (David) Neff. She is survived by her favorite mother in-law, Grace Place, sister in-laws Cara Vandemark and Lynn Pyles of Spencerville, and their children Keaton (Abbe) Vandemark and Logan (Makayla) Vandemark, several great nieces and nephews. She is survived by her lifelong best friend, Vicki Titus Rusmisel (a.k.a. Sister Flea) of Sunbury, Ohio. Aside from her parents, she is proceeded in death by her brother Bob Siegenthaler, sister Paula Siegenthaler, her favorite father in-law, Glen M. Place, and brother in-law, David Place, M.D.
Bev had two dogs in life that meant the world to her. Her English Mastiff, Kahlua and her shelter rescue, Tootsie (Pop).
