Beverly Benson passed away on September 4, 2025 at the age of 78 in Philadelphia, PA.
Beverly was born in Philly to Harold and Mildred (Greaves) Benson. Beverly grew up in and graduated high school from Olney. She attended Peirce College and at the age of 20, was employed at the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) as a key punch operator. Spending her whole career in the IT arena, she would have worked at ASTM for 58 years on September 9, lastly as a senior IT Service Desk Analyst.
From a professional aspect, Bev was an active participant in GUIDE, an IBM user group. From a personal aspect, Bev's passions were crafting, cooking and horticulture. As well as tending to her own gardens, she was a member of the Philadelphia Horticulture Society and volunteered at the Philadelphia Flower Show.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 starting at 10:00 AM, at Freed-Givnish Funeral Home (124 N Easton Rd, Glenside, PA 19038). The funeral service will commence at 10:45am. Interment is at Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Rd, Roslyn, PA 19001.
After the cemetery service, there will be a reception at a local restaurant. If you are interested in the reception, please email William Wilson at "[email protected]" so we can estimate attendance.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Beverly's name may be made to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (https://phsonline.org/support-phs/ways-to-support/donate) or volunteer at the Philadelphia Flower Show as Bev did for many years.
