Beverly Roberts Bowles, age 87, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Akron, Ohio.
She was born on May 8, 1937, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Muriel Carter. Beverly attended Akron Public Schools and accepted Christ at an early age. She dedicated her later years to serving her community, retiring as a grandparent aide for children in daycare through Community Action of Akron, Ohio.
Beverly had a smile that lit up any room, she had a heart of gold and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
She was very thoughtful. Her acts of kindness were not for notoriety but were genuine. Not only did she look out for her own children, but she took an interest in serving her community.
During Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays, she would anonymously submit names, ages, and addresses of families so the children could have toys and meals. It brought her great pleasure to bring a smile to someone's face.
Beverly loved family gatherings, cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom she deeply adored.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, watching the news, shopping and hanging out with her daughter, attending casino bus trips, playing family card games, listening to music and traveling. She deeply loved her family and shared a dear bond with her brother Robert. Each year she looked forward to traveling to Texas and spending weeks at his home. She cherished those special moments for many many years.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Muriel Carter; her husband, Langston Bowles; brothers, Rudolph and Robert “Bobby” Carter; sisters, Rosalie and Claudia Carter Wyatt.
Beverly leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Michael and Marlon Roberts; devoted daughter, Marlene Roberts; brother, Joseph “Butch” Carter; devoted granddaughter, Danita Roberts; grandchildren, DaShawn, Derrick, and T’Shayla Roberts; and 15 great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her special niece, Audrey Parker; dear friends Beverly Burkes, Dennie Miller; and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Adams Mason Funeral Home, 791 East Market Street, Akron, Ohio.
Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Mason Funeral Home (330) 535-9186.
