Beverly Patricia Bracey

Beverly Patricia Bracey, also known as Doll, was born to the late Joe and Elise McInnis on January 14, 1959, in Norfolk, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Antonio McInnis and Ronald McInnis. Beverly leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Kurt Bracey; two daughters, Sherron McInnis and Brichana Bracey; and a dedicated mother, Ida Bracey (Samual Bracey). Beverly was the third of seven children, including Tyrone McInnis (Carlease), Lagina McInnis, Donita Dupree (Donald), and Rico McInnis (Bridget).

Beverly grew up in Calvert Square and received her education from Norfolk Public Schools Systems and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She later received her bachelors degree in criminal justice and sociology and graduated Cum laude from Norfolk State University and Tidewater Community College.

At an early age, Beverly learned the meaning of hard work and discipline with the examples set by her parents, and she instilled those same values within her children. Beverly served in professional roles such as a Resource Mother for pregnant teens, a teacher assistant at Granby Elementary School, and a Direct Support Professional at Southeastern Virginia Training Center.

In her youth, Beverly was athletic and participated in multiple sports, including volleyball, softball, cheerleading, and running track. Beverly also enjoyed other activities such as reading, writing poems, and decorating. She was also heavily involved in her community. She maintained an enthusiastic approach throughout her life, a level of positivity, humility, and humor that was infectious to each and every one she encountered.

Beverly was a dedicated mother who served as the Vice President of the Parent Teacher Association at St. Helena Elementary School. She enjoyed dressing up in costumes to read various books to the children. In addition to reading books to children, she also volunteered in other roles within the school, such as working in the lunchroom and library.

If you knew Beverly, you would know that you would never catch her without her tights, kitty heels, and Fuchsia colored lipstick. Beverly leaves behind a loving family that will miss and cherish her forever.
