Beverly Brown-DeWees Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Broussard's Mortuary - Major Drive on Dec. 16, 2025.
Beverly Brown-DeWees, 82, of Lumberton, died Monday, December 15, 2025. She was born on April 2, 1943, in Houston to Virginia Lucille Sims and Cortes Eldon Walker.
With hearts that are heavy and full of stories, Beverly was the undisputed life of every party she walked into-and a few she probably started by accident.
For over 40 years, Beverly poured her energy, time and big heart into her community. If something needed organizing, fixing or cheering on, she was already there – usually with a plan, a laugh and snacks. She didn't just live in her community, she held it together.
She loved the outdoors in all its forms – fresh air, open roads and trails and crackling bonfires. Motorcycles, ATV's, side-by-sides, dune buggies – if it roared, rattled and kicked up dust, she was in. She believed bonfires were best enjoyed with good friends, lots of laughter and stories that got better with every retelling. Fun was always had at The Shop! Many weekends, a group of friends would gather for a little cooking and a little dancing. Everyone was always WELCOME!
Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, the kind you could always count on. She was the person you called when you didn't know what to do – about life, love, chaos or which wire not to cut. She listened without judgement, spoke with honesty and somehow always knew the right thing to say – even if it came with a little SASS!
Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the traditions she started, the confidence she gave others and the memories that will forever make us smile through the tears. The party feels quieter without her – but if there is a bonfire, an open trail, a shop or a little trouble to get into up there in Heaven, we are certain she's already there making it better if that's possible.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved by so many!
