Beverly Crusius Obituary

Beverly J. Crusius

August 14, 1929 - August 3, 2025

Beverly J. Crusius, 95, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully at 9:35 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Martin Health Center, Westminster Village, Bloomington.

Born August 14, 1929, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Richard and Pauline Vincent. Beverly married Leland Morgan on December 24, 1950, in El Paso. He preceded her in death in 1980. In 1985, she married Lowell Crusius, and together they made their home at Lake Bloomington and later in Normal. Lowell passed away in 2011.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Terry Morgan; and sons, Richard Morgan and Mark Morgan.

Beverly is survived by her sister, Phyllis Remmert; by her children, Connie (Tom) DeBord of Bloomington and Scott (Kathy) Morgan of Glen Ellyn; granddaughters, Carie (Greg) Funke, Ashley (Francesca) Morgan, Emily DeBord, Allison DeBord, Mackenzie (Chad) Middleton, and Anna Morgan; grandsons, Phillip Morgan, Barry DeBord, and Erik Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Owen and Eleanor Funke. She is also fondly remembered by Lowell's children, Ann Crusius, Gay (Bruce) Crusius and Jon Crusius.

A graduate of Bluffton College with a degree in music, Beverly later earned a mortuary science degree from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science. Alongside Leland, she owned and operated The Elms Restaurant in El Paso, a cherished family business opened by her mother-in-law in 1937.

Beverly was a longtime member and assistant organist at the El Paso United Methodist Church, where she joyfully played the organ and marimba at services, weddings and other special occasions. Later, she became a member of Normal First United Methodist Church. She was also an avid golfer, enjoying countless rounds with her "Fearless Foursome" at the El Paso Golf Club, where she was a member for over 65 years. Beverly treasured luncheons with dear friends and delighted in hosting family gatherings, especially baking Christmas cookies with her grandchildren, who knew they could always find one in her freezer.

Her passion for travel took her to five continents, including a memorable birthday dinner at Le Jules Verne Restaurant in the Eiffel Tower.

A funeral service will be held at Normal First United Methodist Church on August 15, 2025, at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon. Cremation rights have been accorded and she will be interred at Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso during a private service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choosing. Condolences and tributes can be sent to family at www.ruestmanharrisfuneralhome.com.

Many memories growing up with Connie and her family spending countless days and sleep overs at their home. Beverly was a caring loving mom to her family. I know she will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers for her family. Sincerely, Delora (Burroughs) Henkel
