Beverly Jean Dapas

 It is with heavy hearts that I announce the peaceful passing of my beloved mother, Beverly (Bev) Jean Dapas, who left us on June 3, 2024, at the age of 82.  Surrounded by her loving family and friends in her final moments, she was smiling and talking about how much fun she had with us.

Beverly was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on May 25, 1942.  Her family moved to Burien, WA. where she graduated from Highline High School.   She met her late husband, Lou Dapas, while working for him at his restaurant, “Lou’s Drive In.”  They married on July 27, 1969.  

After marriage, she had one son, Tori, where she dedicated her life to being a loving at home mother and wife.  She enjoyed tennis, bowling, golf and could crochet with the best of them!  She was always hosting friends and family over to her house.  Making mini pancakes in the morning and mostaccioli with meatballs at night.   What made her happy was making others happy.

In 2002 she was uprooted from Washington to spend time with her grandchildren and family in Jacksonville, Florida.  She spent 37 years as a wife until Lou’s passing in 2006.

Instead of retiring, Beverly happily worked at Costco for 15 years as one of their top “demo” people.   She made many close friends and took such pride in her work.  Her boss would often say “she could sell ketchup to someone wearing white gloves.”

When she was not working, she dedicated her time to her grandchildren, attending as many sports and activities as she could.  She loved to watch her grandkids do anything and was their biggest fan!

She spent the last 2 years happily living in Starling assisted living where she met several friends.   She enjoyed old and new games including bingo, Wii golf and her favorite, puzzling.  

For those that knew Bev, words cannot express the amount of love, compassion and selflessness that she possessed.  Her love and passion for sports included avidly following the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks and University of Washington.  Even living in Florida, she would go out of her way to find a place to watch the Seahawks games with her family.

Bev did not have one mean bone in her body.  She loved everyone and was always a glass half full person.  She was always willing to help others and brought a smile to everyone’s face with her genuine smile and infectious laugh.

She is survived by her older sister, Pat; son, Tori and wife Jennie; her grandchildren, Amanda (23) and Jackson (15); plus, many loving nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her husband, Lou; mother, Ruby Brose; father, Clarence “Jim” Larson; and sister, Kaye Sims.

We will all miss her positive attitude and bubbly personality that made everyone want to be around her.  We will feel the warmth of her love every time the sun rises, and we will see the sparkle of love in her eyes in the stars every night.  Beverly will always be with us, and we will cherish our memories of her.  She will be missed by all.

To honor Bev, the family requests bright and cheerful colors be worn. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am, Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in Quinn Shalz Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Beverly had requested that donations be made to Florida Elite Soccer Academy’s scholarship program. She spent many happy days cheering on her grandson, Jackson and his team, as part of the Florida Elite family. Florida Elite Soccer Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity. Click
