Beverly W. Davis passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. She was born on October 16, 1934, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, to Don and Betty Waterfield. She was raised in Troy, NY where she graduated from Troy High School. She went on to attend SUNY at Oneonta where she met her future husband, Bill Davis, and graduated with a degree in education. They started their family in upstate New York. Beverly started work on her Masters degree in Library Science at Syracuse University. They eventually moved their young family to Taylors, SC in 1968. She worked as a public nursery school teacher in Taylors before becoming the librarian at Reidville Elementary School. She completed her Masters degree at Furman University. Beverly's life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, her faith, and the countless children she inspired throughout her career.
After retiring, Beverly continued to serve her community as a guardian ad litem, advocating for the best interests of children and ensuring that their voices were heard in the legal system. Her generosity of spirit and dedication to service were hallmarks of her character.
Beverly's interests were a reflection of her nurturing soul. She loved to crochet and welcomed numerous babies to the world with a handmade baby afghan. Weddings and graduations were celebrated with hand crocheted full-sized afghans. In her later years, she crocheted warm hats that she donated to the less fortunate. An avid reader, she always had a book she was reading. She also loved to recall family stories from the past in minute detail. Above all, Beverly's greatest love was her family. She was the loving matriarch who brought everyone together, her home a haven of warmth and laughter. There was always room for one more at her dinner table.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence. Beverly was an active member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Greer, South Carolina, where she lived her faith through service and fellowship. Her faith-filled life was a testament to her belief in kindness, compassion, and the power of prayer.
Beverly was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Davis. She is survived by her family: her sister Carol Ostermann of Maine, her sister Doris Lipetz of Connecticut, her brother D. Allan (Ruthe) Waterfield of New Hampshire, her son Jeffery (Barbara) Davis of Houston, Texas, her daughters Jennifer Allen of Taylors, South Carolina, and Beth (Mike) Sayce of Greer, South Carolina, and her son Scott Davis of Greer, South Carolina. Beverly's legacy continues through her eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren
