Beverly M. (Znaniecki) DeGroot, 72, of Peru, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Peru.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru with Rev. John Baptist Uwigaba of St. Joseph's Church, Peru officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Visitation will be held 4-7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. DeGroot was born June 12, 1953 in Peru to Edward and Charlotte (Walendukanis) Znaniecki. She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School. She married David DeGroot on May 5, 1973 in Peru.
Mrs. DeGroot worked as a clerk at CJ Banks at the Peru Mall and later as a teller at Spring Valley City Bank. She enjoyed going on walks, reading, and knitting.
Survivors include her husband, David; three daughters, Brandy (Andy) Groleau of Ladd, Crystal DeGroot (Tony Owens) of Spring Hill, FL, and April (fiance, Bryan Wilder) DeGroot of Ladd; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Larry (Arratta) Znaniecki of Ottawa and Lyle (Lori) Znaniecki of Loves Park; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Patricia Znaniecki; and three brothers, Edward, Jerome, and Kenneth Znaniecki.
