Obituary of Beverly G. Dolezal
Beverly G. Dolezal, age 91 of Iowa City, died Friday, February 21, 2025, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, February 28, 2025, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Services where there will be a time of visitation beginning at 11:30am until the services. A time of fellowship and refreshments will immediately follow the services at the funeral home. Private burial services will take place at the Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to Systems Unlimited Iowa City.
Beverly Gayle Van Gorp was born on January 25, 1934, in Pella, Iowa the daughter of Wilfred and Frances (Watters) Van Gorp. Their family moved to Iowa City where Beverly attended Iowa City schools, graduating from City High School in 1952. She then attended Iowa City Business College. Beverly worked for the Iowa City Credit Bureau before beginning a career with the University of Iowa as an administrative assistant at the physical plant and later in the College of Dentistry.
Beverly was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" F. Dolezal on June 11, 1956, in Iowa City. She and Dick enjoyed traveling extensively, square dancing, bowling and playing cards with friends.
Her family includes her three children, Linda Hayes (Chris), Debra Tappan (Jim Walters), and Steve Dolezal (Donna); eight grandchildren, Chelsea Della Betta (Steve), Rachel Hillesland, Andrew Tappan (Erin), James Tappan (Helen Leavenworth), Michael Tappan (Callie), Ben Dolezal (Emily), Danielle Lee (Nick) and Nick Dolezal (Katie); seven great-grandchildren, Skylar, Gabriel, Paxton, Jack, Gio, Graham and Chloe; sister, Barbara Ziethamel; brother, Wilfred Van Gorp; and cousin, Alma Ann Greene.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Gregory; step-father, Otto Treptow; step-mother, Bonna Van Gorp and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
