BEVERLY JEAN ENGELKES, age 84, of Rushmore, died Wednesday, August 26, 2025, at her home. Beverly was born March 4, 1941, in the Twin Cities. She was later adopted through Children Home Society, by George and Anna Redenius of Rushmore, MN.
Bev attended Mckinnley #20 Country School and later graduated from Worthington High School in 1957, where she was an Honer Roll student. Bev attended Westmar College in LeMars, IA and earned her elementary Education Degree. During her time there she continued to be an Honor student. She made use of her degree in both Adrian, MN and Ellworth, MN. She spent many years working at Lakeview/CCSI and HIS and enjoyed her time with all the individuals there. Bev continued as a substitute teacher for many years.
During Bev's youth she was very active in 4-H. She earned countless State Fair trips in clothing, vegetable and meat preserves, and Horse Showing with her beautiful Palomino, Sugar. The family also raised sheep and she greatly enjoyed raising the Rat Terrier puppies, along with her horses.
Bev married Vernon G. Engelkes on June 8, 1962. She became busy helping on the farm. They had cattle, but she took care of the laying hens. Bev and Vernon had four children; Barbara, Paul, Mark, and Theresa. Bev enjoyed tending her large gardens and mowing the family farm. She was very active in church playing both piano and organ, often playing for weddings and Funerals. She was also treasurer and helped in preparing and printing bulletins, along with other request/ needed tasks. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and ,most of all, time with her grandchildren; Tyler, Ethan, Nathanel, Preston, Dalton, Autumn, Gavin, Anthony, Katanna and Darby along with her twenty great-grandchildren.
