Mrs. Beverly Diane Grubbs, 72, of Advance, NC, was called by God, on the morning of April 4, 2024, to come to be with Him and live in her new home – “a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the Heavens”. She was born on October 5, 1951, to the late Mr. Andrew Jackson Duggins and Mrs. Frances Cates Duggins. She was married on February 25. 1967 to Donald Grubbs, Sr. (Shorty).
Diane graduated from East Forsyth High School. She soon joined the work force at Wachovia Bank, working there for 30+ years, and worked a few years at PNC Bank. She professed Christ as Savior and became a member of Hanes Baptist Church 39 years ago. There she participated in the Choir, and assisted in the Benevolence Ministry, as well as other needs as they became evident.
She is survived by her husband, Shorty; three children: Cindy Grubbs Bowden (Chris), Donald Grubbs, Jr., (Cherie), and Angela Grubbs Watkins (Daniel). Diane and Shorty were blessed with 10 Grandchildren Joshua (Destinee), Justin (Taylor), Alex (Brianna), Christian, Mackenzie, Jacob, Austin, Benjamin, Cailyn, and Chloe; seven great-grandchildren, and one on the way. She is also survived by a brother, Rick Duggins (Karen), a sister, Betty Meeks, several nieces and nephews, many friends, and neighbors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Wagoner.
Diane could easily be compared to Dorcas in the Bible, as “full of good works”. Some of those good works were utilizing her exceptional culinary skills, pleasing the palate of many people. When friends were phoned to advise of Diane’s passing, each one told of some good deed she had done for them. The Book of Revelation advises us that our works do follow us, Diane has several good works to her credit.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 1:00pm at Hanes Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Holley officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until the time of the service at the church. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is respectfully serving the Grubbs family. So long, Diane, “until daybreak, and the shadows flee away”.
