Beverly Kunkle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Lexington Avenue Chapel on Dec. 29, 2025.
BEVERLY ROSE KUNKLE, passed away on December 23, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, having just celebrated her 90th. birthday.
She was born December 21, 1935 in Marion, Ohio. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Rose Nixon (Marion), Milton Priess (Mansfield) step-mother, Margaret Priess (Mansfield), baby sister Carolyn M. Priess (Marion), brother, Donald Priess (Mansfield), her loving husband of 52 years, Lowell D. Kunkle (Lexington) and son, John D. Kunkle (Lexington).
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy S. Krock (Steve Krock) (Mansfield); grandchildren who lovingly called her "Grammy" include Ashley Krock (Lexington); Emma Ashbaugh (Lexington), Corey Kunkle, Kyra Barber and Paul Kunkle (Lexington), Ella Kunkle-Krock, Mia Kaser, Mason, Dylan, and Harper Grace Fackelman, Wheeler Ashbaugh (Lexington), Braxton Hatfield, Liam Barber(Lexington), and Cayden and Olivia Kunkle (Lexington); sisters, Barbara L. Hill (Michael N. Hill),(Mansfield), Melanie A. Irwin (Columbus) and many loving nieces and nephews who called her "Booberly."
Beverly was a 1955 graduate of Mansfield Senior High and worked at the Mansfield Telephone company. There she became friends with Polly Kunkle who introduced her to her son, Lowell who would become her husband. She and Lowell married May 2, 1959. Bev could be seen working with Polly at Malabar Inn, assisting in distributing Polly's famous Grasshopper Pies, and doing food demos in various grocery stores.
Bev was the consummate homemaker caring for her children Cindy and John and keeping her cupboards full of homemade spaghetti sauces, pickles and canned homegrown vegetables. She always provided food to the many potlucks the fire departments held where her husband, Lowell was working.
Beverly was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ where she sang with their church choir and a member of the Mansfield Choral Society singing with her brother, Don and sister, Barbara. Together they made great music.
As a dedicated volunteer she was a girl scout leader, and a pastoral care volunteer with Mansfield General Hospital. She spent many hours visiting and singing with residents of various long term care facilities around the Mansfield area. Bev also used her creative spirit writing poems to her brother, Don and sister, Melanie when she would watch her twin niece and nephew in Columbus.
Beverly was a gentle and loving spirit, expressing her love of life, people and God through her food, voice and behavior/deeds. Her loving and gentle spirit and beautiful voice will be deeply missed.
Cindy recalls that Bev, her mom, was the best mother to her and John. She was always the calm presence in the house, we longed for nothing growing up. It was a simpler kind of life that I yearn for now. She will forever be in our hearts. God holds you now Mama. I love you deeply.
Funeral arrangements are with Snyder Funeral Homes, Lexington Avenue Chapel. Friends may call on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 10:00 am until the time of Bev's funeral service at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Faith Proietti officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
