Beverly A. Martin, 89, of Central City, passed away, August 23, 2025, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM, Tuesday, August 26th at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will take place at Dunkard Cemetery in Midway, IA.
Beverly was born on December 16, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the daughter of Harold and Matilda (Machula) Newman. She graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Martin on April 3, 1955, at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Bev was a member of the Central City United Church of Christ where she greatly enjoyed her church family. She also liked cooking, gardening, and bird watching. Her and her husband Ken enjoyed dancing and traveling together. They moved to the country in their retirement years and enjoyed time raising alpacas. Bev loved animals, especially her cat, Tom. She looked forward to trips to the casino with friends, Diana Dye and Dave Matthews. In addition, Bev liked garage sales, thrifting, and game nights with her family.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Angela (Kirk) Wilson and their daughter Aria Wilson, Adam Martin (Jeff Johnson), and Jessica Martin and her daughter McKenna Martin; daughter-in-law, Pamala Martin; brother, Jerry (Patricia) Newman; her beloved cat, Tom; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her spouse, Kenneth Martin Sr., her parents, stepfather, Louis Akers; sons, Daniel Martin and Kenneth Martin Jr.; and siblings, Jeane Nelson, Russell Newman, and Harold Newman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Human Society or Disabled American Veterans.
