With profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Beverly Medford, affectionately known as "Ma" to all who loved her. She departed this life surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, boundless generosity, and unconditional love. She was the daughter of Ida Marie (Kropp) Moore Shaffer and Birdsell Warren Moore.
For nearly 55 years, Beverly served faithfully in her church, Glad Tidings/Connect Community Church Oil City-a pillar of grace and loyalty to every pastor she supported. Her devotion was not just spiritual-it was personal. She gave of her time, her heart, and her resources, always ensuring her pastors were encouraged, honored, and uplifted. Her tithe was never just a duty-it was a joyful offering, a reflection of her deep trust in God and her commitment to His work.
A visionary and compassionate entrepreneur, Beverly founded Shady Oaks Foster Care, which she ran for 23 years. Through this ministry of love, she touched countless lives, sending more children to camp than could ever be counted. Her wealth was never hoarded-it was poured out like a blessing, especially on those who needed it most.
Beverly lived the love of 1 Corinthians 13-love that is patient and kind. She didn't just know the scripture; she embodied it. Her life was a living testimony to the kind of love that heals, uplifts, and unites.
She was a peacemaker in every sense of the word. She never entertained discord, whether in her church or her family. Her words were seasoned with grace, her actions rooted in forgiveness, and her heart always open to see
the best in others. She lived love-not just preached it-and encouraged those around her to do the same.
To her sons-in-law, she was never "Beverly"-she was simply "Ma." Her love knew no titles, only deep connection. She welcomed them as sons, not by obligation, but by choice.
Her hospitality was legendary among her grandchildren, who will forever cherish the thoughtful gifts, the warm meals, and the holidays made magical by her gracious spirit. For years, while the grandchildren were growing up, Ma prepared every holiday meal-big, amazing feasts that she joyfully created and honored to share. She loved to labor for her family, pouring herself into every dish with joy. Her home was a place of warmth and celebration, and the grandchildren often stayed over, basking in her love and care. She was always hands-on, doting over them with tenderness and delight, truly to the very end.
She adored her beloved great-grandson Julian-he was her world. Her eyes lit up at the mention of his name, and her love for him was deep and pure. She was also overjoyed to welcome a new great-grandson, Isaac. Isaac was adopted into the family with celebration and love, and Ma embraced him with the same warmth and devotion that defined her heart. His arrival brought her great happiness, and she welcomed him as only she could-with open arms and unconditional love.
Beverly was survived by loving and devoted husband Vernon of 56 years, Daughters; Julie (Anthony) Waldrop, Amy (John) Lootens; 4 grandchildren, Sabrina (Aaron) Zeiler, Courtney (Ricky) Ryckman, John (fiancé Ashley Grams) Waldrop and Roger Kinney; 4 great grandchildren, Isaac Zeiler, Landon Ryckman, Quintyn Ryckman and Julian Ryckman; her oldest sister Patricia Nimeth.
She is proceeded in death by both of her parents, siblings; Birdsell W. Moore Jr., David E. Moore, Paul P. Moore, Sue Anne Lootens; Swartz, Luke E. Moore, his twin Mark Moore, who died at birth, and Joel A. Moore.
Beverly leaves behind a family who adored her, a church that was strengthened by her, and a community forever changed by her kindness. The hole she leaves is vast, but so is the love she planted in every heart she touched. We, her family, commit to carrying forward the best of her-her faith, her generosity, her peace, and her joy-so that she remains a living part of us always.
A celebration of life will be held at the Midland Missionary Fellowship Hall, on Saturday, October 18th at 5pm, followed by a meal.
Rest well, Ma. Your legacy lives on in every hug, every prayer, and every act of love we offer in your name.
