Beverly (Stewart) Oaksford Moore
Beverly Grace Stewart Halladay Miller Oaksford Moore, 88, of Moravia, passed away unexpectedly on August 25, 2025, at Cayuga Medical Center.
She was born on October 16, 1936, daughter of the late Herbert Q. and Dora (Thomas) Stewart. A lifelong Groton area resident, she was in the first graduating class at the "new" Groton High School in 1955. She attended CCBI and was named Queen of the 1960 Groton Centennial Celebration.
Beverly retired at age 70 from Cornell University, after a varied career that included roles at Smith Corona, Jamesway, Hoyt Cinemas, Ed's Luncheonette, and the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas. Many people also knew Beverly as a Tupperware and Melaleuca consultant. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.
She is survived by her husband, Peter J. Moore, of Moravia; her children: Kay Blake (Matt), Alan Halladay (Terry), Daniel Halladay (Shari), Lee Miller; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and her siblings, Bert Stewart, Arnold Stewart (Becky), Opal Stewart, John Stewart (Kathy), and Andy Stewart.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Robert Oaksford.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 29 at the West Groton Bible Church, with interment to follow at West Groton Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 1:00 - 2:00 PM preceding the service.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Northwoods Rehabilitation & Nursing Center (Resident Activity Fund) 7 Keeler Ave., Moravia, NY 13118, or to the West Groton Bible Church, 858 Cobb St., Groton, NY 13073.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Shurtleff Funeral Home, and online condolences may be shared at www.shurtleffservices.com.
