Beverly, 79, Finally Found Her Way - Without a Map
After a long, meandering journey (with multiple wrong turns and absolutely no GPS), Beverly has finally reached her final destination. She passed away peacefully on July 1st, after a life filled with grit, laughter, and perfectly timed sarcasm.
She is survived by her husband Bob, her children Dana and Trevor, and her 16-year-old grandchild, Ivan, who carries forward a spark of her wit and independence. She is also survived by her two younger sisters, Cheryl and Zelda, and her older brother Galen - with whom she shared decades of storytelling and a lifetime of memories. Her parents and one older brother passed quite a few years before her, likely preparing the way (and possibly bracing themselves). She leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and wonderful in-laws who were lucky enough to know her humor, warmth, and fierce spirit.
Beverly loved her early life in Ord, Nebraska, and always carried that small-town stubbornness and spirit with her. GBR.
Though she faced a long and exhausting illness, Beverly met it the way she met most things - with a dry remark, a crooked smile, and a joke about how ridiculous it all was.
True to form, Beverly isn't done yet. She is now at the University of Kansas as a body donation - a final act that reflects her lifelong passion for learning, teaching, and exploring. She never stopped asking questions, reading deeply, and seeking to understand.
We're pretty sure she was greeted on the other side by all the pets she ever loved, and maybe a few chickens too, still laughing at her own jokes.
At her request, there will not be any services. Please memorialize her in the best way each of you see fit - plant a flower, read a book, learn a new skill, and think about her. And when you do, raise a glass of Chablis - her favorite wine - and celebrate life with your friends, just the way she would have wanted.
