Bev was born on April 27, 1947 (her father's birthday) in St. Paul, MN to Paul J. and June Edith Moore. In 1949, the family moved to Bozeman, MT where she grew up and graduated from Bozeman High School in 1965. She never lost her love of Montana. She attended Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri and transferred to Virginia Tech where she graduated with both a bachelor's and master's Degree in Early Education. She married Duke Strager (deceased 2007) at the Virginia Tech Chapel and moved to St. Clairsville, OH. From there, the football family moved to a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA and then to Murray, Kentucky. In 1986 they moved to Blacksburg, VA where Bev taught first at Margaret Beeks and then Kipps Elementary until her retirement, having been a teacher for more than 40 years. She loved and kept in touch with many of her students long after they moved on from her classroom. She faithfully followed the HOKIES, she became a WASP when marrying Rufus 'Buddy' Shull in 2007. She was an active member of P.E.O. Chapter BP and St. Mary's Church of Blacksburg and the Stephen Ministry Program.
She was loved beyond measure by her children: Shaye (Michael) Strager- Gilmartin in Atlanta, GA, Dallas Paul (LauRen) Strager in Charlotte, NC and Brea Lou Strager in Charleston, SC/Big Sky, MT. She adored her stepchildren, Scott & Stephanie Shull, Jess Shull and Tayler (Matt) Cooper, all of Radford, VA.
Bev's legacy of love lives on in her grandchildren: Georgia June (Gigi) 13, Cashton Duke 7, Jaxson Joseph 3, Ben 20, Brody 17, Callie 3, Rylie 1, and Braxton 3 months.
Bev is predeceased by her parents and her sister Marilyn Marie 'Mitzi' Eaton. She is survived by her husband, Buddy Shull, her sisters Paulette (Dick) Boothe (Alabama) and Donna Moore (London, England) and her sisters-in-law: Judy Carter (Vienna, VA) Debbie Atkins (Radford) and Brenda Woolwine (Christiansburg).
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, April 27th at Bev & Buddy's home from 1-4:00 pm in Radford, VA. A second celebration will be held in Montana at the end of August. Details forthcoming. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bev's life.
The family would like to thank each and every caregiver and doctor that has cared for Bev with so much love over the years: Dr. Heather Brooks of Blue Ridge Cancer Care, Tara, Libby & Lynne from Carilion Oncology Rehab/Lymphedema Therapy), Zeb Shrader and the aids at Medi Hospice Care.

Gary and I feel fortunate to have enjoyed socializing and (over the years) a close friendship with Bev and Rufus. Bev had a way of instantly connecting with people..she drew you in and made you feel loved. Our fond memories of her include trips to the farm (kayaking, four wheeling, tubing), a memorable trip to upstate NY and Canada, countless walks on the beaches we visited, and cheering on the Wasps (Bev insisted on walking up many steps to sit in the Emory and Henry stands as late as this past fall). Nothing held her back from living in the moment despite cancer's limitations. Most important to her was her faith and all members of their (Rufus and Bev's) blended families of whom she often spoke with love and admiration. Our lives have
been enriched and blessed by her friendship.
She will be missed but never forgotten.

When we think of Beverly, we think of her beautiful smile and her eternal optimism. We were always anxious to see her, and she often stopped to visit on her way to visit Scott and family. She always had time to say hello, and give us a hug. Beverly will truly be missed by all who knew her.
