Beverly Jeanine Slanina, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024. Beverly embodied the strength and beauty of a life well-lived. Born in Longview, Washington, she was a beacon of resilience, faith, and unwavering dedication to family and community.
Her journeys took her across the globe, having homes in Japan, Germany, New Jersey, Utah, Georgia, Colorado, New York, and more before she settled in Tacoma, Washington. Her adventures across the globe only enriched her perspective, making her a woman of diverse experiences, deep wisdom and compassion.
Beverly's professional life As a Dietician Administrator in Healthcare, was a testament to her commitment to serve others. Always offering a kind word and a helping hand.
Beverly's hobbies were an extension of her generous heart. She poured love into everything she did: crocheting blankets to comfort loved ones and babies, baking and cooking meals that brought everyone together, tending her garden, sharing the fruits of her labor through canning. Her dedication to reading and learning spoke to her ever curious nature, while sewing and other crafts were labors of love she freely shared.
Beverly's faith was the cornerstone of her life. A steadfast member of the catholic church she offered her time and talents to St. Vincent DePaul, working in the church office. She was a part of her church senior group and the P.T.A., always ready to extend her support wherever needed. As we remember Beverly, let us find solace in the Scripture: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." (Matthew 5:4).
Beverly was a woman of extraordinary kindness, a loyal friend, and a selfless servant who never hesitated to open her home to those in need. She placed no judgment on nationality, color, or gender, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. To quote Elizabeth Stone, "Making the decision to have a child - it is monumental. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." Beverly's love continues to live on through family, her legacy etched into their lives.
Beverly is survived by her beloved children: Sue Hall, Patty Warter, Caroline Ullrich, Margaret Koivu, Barbara Johnson, Robert and Richard Slanina, and her sister Virginia Wooten. As well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nephews. All whom she loved deeply. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Caroline Verner, siblings Theodore Verner, Shirley Zuppone, Carol Verner, and her cherished daughter Marlene Graham.
The Mass in honor of Beverly will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 10:00 am PST at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, followed by a reception and celebration of life in the church hall. Afterwards a graveside service at 1:30 pm PST at Calvary Cemetery.
As we say goodbye to this extraordinary woman, we invite you to share your cherished memories and photographs on her memorial page. May her life inspire us to live with grace and compassion.
