Beverly Jane Stanczyk

Beverly Jane Stanczyk, of Custer, passed away peacefully with family at her side on December 1, 2024, at Portage County Health Care Center, at the age of 96.
Beverly was born March 3, 1928, in Junction City, WI; daughter of the late Harry and Eleanora (Meindle) Cartwright. She grew up in the area, attending local schools and graduating from PJ Jacobs High School in 1946.
Shortly after high school, on October 19, 1946, Beverly married Chester Stancyzk at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stevens Point. The two worked side by side to raise their family at home while simultaneously running their own business, Chet + Bev's Tavern, in Ellis and Shantytown. They successfully ran the business from 1961 until they retired in 1981.
Beverly was more than a devoted wife and mother, she was a gracious host and found joy in cooking for others. She was well known for her turtle soup! She also enjoyed playing cards, keeping her mind sharp with puzzles, and trying her luck at Bingo from time to time. Beverly was sure to support her church and could be found attending church functions into her 90's.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Thomas) Printz of Rosholt; her four sons, Larry (Gerri) Stanczyk of Durham, NC, and Clarence (Judy), Roger, and Scott (Melanie) Stanczyk, all of Custer; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chester; her parents, Harry and Eleanora; three sisters, Arlene Trestik, Ruth Schrader, and Carol Passineau; a step-brother, Francis Cartwright; a son, Leonard Stanczyk; and a grandson, Travis Stanczyk.
For the loving support provided, the family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the caregivers and staff at the Portage County Health Care Center and St. Croix Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart's Parish Cemetery.
