Beverly Joan Young

Beverly Joan Young, 92, of Ashland, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024, at Brethren Care in Ashland.

Beverly was born May 29, 1932, in Walhonding, Ohio to James and Arah {Walters} Fry. She married Harvey Young on June 14, 1952. He passed away on May 28, 2024.

Beverly was the secretary for the Superintendent of the Ridgewood School District in West Lafayette, Ohio for many years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland. Beverly and Harvey enjoyed playing golf and socializing with their group of friends at the Country Club of Ashland. She also enjoyed playing tennis and bowling in the Thursday afternoon league. In her earlier years, she was a great seamstress, enjoyed card club and square dancing with her friends in West Lafayette. Beverly loved spending time with her sisters shopping and having lunch.

Beverly will be deeply missed by her children Kim (Fred) Oxley and Scott (Jackie) Young both of Ashland; grandchildren Kristin (Nick) Smialek, Melissa (Kyle) See, Kara (Andrew) Bush, Julie (Ryan) Emmons, Jason (Jenna), and Robby Young; great-grandchildren Kensley, Lila, Luke Smialek, Payton, Mason, Emmy See, Ethan, Charlie Bush, Ella, Olivia, Ava Emmons and Isla Young; sisters Donna Peddicord, Carolyn Richards, Dixie Slaughter, and Sharon (Randy) Snow.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey and brothers James “Sonny” Jr. Fry and Larry Fry and a brothers-in-law David Richards and Herb Peddicord.

Friends may visit Saturday, December 14 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in the narthex. Services will follow at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Kevin McClain officiating.
