Bill "Pa" Byess, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at his residence surrounded by family. He was born on August 18, 1935, in Marble Hill, GA to the late Marion and Effie Byess.

Bill's life was a testament to his values – love for the Lord, and his family. He was a devoted member of Bethesda Baptist Church and always enjoyed attending church.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Bill had a deep love for Bluegrass Gospel Music. He was always willing to extend a helping hand and treasured the moments spent with his family. Bill's loving heart and devout faith left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Annelle Byess; sons, Mike Byess, Harold Byess; daughter, Cindy Dupree; grandson, Clint Byess; daughter-in-law, Elaine Byess; his parents; four great-grandchildren angel babies; three brothers; and two sisters.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Jean Byess; daughter, Sherri Hilton (Brooks); son, Joe Byess (Selena); daughter-in-law, Lisa Byess; daughter, Christi Pettway; sister, Geneel Nix; brother, Don Byess; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Bethesda Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Phillips, Rev. Casey Davis and Rev. Jacob Byess officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sosebee Funeral Home on Friday, October 3rd from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 4th from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 5th from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Byess, Lee Clark, Cody Byess, Cameron Harris, Devin Pettway, Corey Howell and Ford Davis.

Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Bethesda Baptist Church.
