Bill Ferguson

Billy Laine Ferguson, 63 of Rochester, died Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Methodist Campus.

Bill was born April 26, 1959 in Rochester to Gordy and Linda (Roper) Ferguson.  He graduated from Dover-Eyota High School in 1977.  Bill then began working for Clements Chevrolet as a Mechanic while also serving in the Army Reserves.  Bill was a bit of a wild one, had no fear and truly lived each day to its fullest.  Bill loved fast cars, motorcycles, and snowmobiles.  A motorcycle accident in 1980 changed the course of his life and he couldn’t do many of the things he loved.  But that didn’t change his strength or his perseverance to live and he still found ways to get into mischief every now and then.  Following his accident, Bill made his home in Rochester with the help of many wonderful caregivers throughout the years.  His strength, perseverance and heart will be remembered by many.

He is survived by his parents, Linda and Gordy of Dover; three siblings, Scott (Jeanne) Ferguson, Kim Ferguson and Craig (Sue) Ferguson; nieces and nephews, Emily (Ramsey) Hass, Ashley Ferguson and Cole (Alison) Ferguson; great-niece, Journey Ferguson and aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Bill’s family would like to thank Bear Creek Services for the compassionate and loving care they gave him throughout the years as well as his many other caregivers. 

A Celebration of Bill’s life will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service – St. Charles with the Reverend Cyndy Spear officiating.  Visitation will be 10 a.m., until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
