Bill Hellmuth

Bill Hellmuth, 82, passed away on May 1, 2025. He was a beloved husband, dad, granddad, and great granddad. Bill was born on June 6, 1942, to the late Nellie and Russell Hellmuth, and grew up in Rockaway, New Jersey.
After graduating from high school, Bill attended and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. Soon after, he joined the U.S. Army and completed Officer Candidate School. After his service in the military, Bill went to work at Harry Diamond Laboratories in Maryland as an Architect. Later, he moved to Raleigh to work with the State of North Carolina in the Property Office. Bill retired from the State in 1999.
Bill enjoyed dancing, playing the guitar, singing, fishing, and hunting. Many thanks to all of his dancing friends from the Longbranch of Raleigh and The Junction of Benson, his blue grass friends who he played and sang with, and his fishing friends from the Leesville BASSMasters of Wake County. Many thanks also to our neighbors on Branchview Court and members of Bethlehem Baptist Church for your love and support.
Bill is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ann C. Hellmuth of Raleigh; daughter, Sharon Jean James of Middlesex; son, Bill Hellmuth Jr. of Knightdale; stepson, David Wilson of Wake Forest; grandson, Chris Wells (Heather) of Middlesex; step-grandson, Lonnie Wilson (Taylor) of Louisburg; step-granddaughters, Kelly Dixon (Travis) of Leland and Lindsey Wilson of Wilmington; and nieces, Lynn Watkins (Paul) of Richmond, Virginia and Donna Duff (Scott) of Christiansburg, Virginia. He is also survived by many step-great-grandchildren, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his stepson, Thomas Wilson.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 8400 Poole Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
