Major Bill Howard was born on January 26, 1953, in Brownfield, Texas. He passed away on November 6, 2024, in Denver City, Texas, surrounded by his family.
Major was preceded in death by his parents Freddie Allen and Billie Laverne Howard, his daughter Jennifer Lee Howard, and his wife and the love of his life, Angel Howard. Those left here to cherish his memory are his daughter Summer Lovelace and her husband Sterling, his daughter Kristi Howard, his grandchildren Sage Caldwell and husband Braden, Slade Lovelace, Cheyanne Howard, Brett Howard and his wife Tessa, Skylar Watson and his wife Britiny, and Casey Watson and his wife Hanna, several great-grandchildren, his brother Wren Howard and his wife Natalie, sister Freda McSwane and her husband Jay, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Major was retired at the time of his death, but he also farmed, worked in the oilfield, and worked for TDCJ over the years. He had a larger-than-life personality and loved to make people laugh. He had a gift of being able to make friends easily and always had a joke or funny story to tell anyone he saw. He loved to watch old westerns and talk weather or politics with friends and family.
He loved his family with all of his heart, but he never got over the loss of his Angel. He was so sick over the last year and talked all the time about how excited he was to get to see her again and then over the last several weeks, he would just smile and say that he could already see her face.
Graveside services for Major Bil Howard will be held on Friday November 15, 2024, at 11:00am at the Plains Cemetery. The family would love for anyone that would like to fellowship and share memories with us to join us immediately following the service for a lunch at the Plains State Bank Building.
