Robert Lira, 76, of Brownfield, Texas passed from this life on December 3, 2024, in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his family. Robert was born on July 29, 1948, in Tivoli, Texas to Manuel Lira and Antonia Flores. Robert married Rosario Elizardo on August 6, 1967. They were married for 57 years. They had 5 children, Robert, Kathy, David, Rachel, and Kimberly. Robert and Rosario moved to Brownfield in 1968.
Robert worked in tire service for 17 years and went to do maintenance for most of his life until he retired at the age of 65. Although, retired wasn't a word he understood. Repairing vehicles, running errands, taking care of grandkids, and attending any and every extra-curricular activity he possible could. He spent his time doing anything and everything he could for his family and friends. Robert didn't know a stranger. He was patient, kind, loving, funny soft and hard. He was the perfect example of God's heart. He was everything good and the last of his kind. His wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the love his life. As Robert liked to say, "I love you more than yesterday and yesterday's gone."
Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lira, his parents, Manuel and Antonia Lira, and all of his sisters and brothers.
Those to cherish his life are his wife, Rosario Lira; daughter, Kathy DeLeon and husband Ray, son David Lira, daughter, Rachel Vasquez and husband Gilbert, and Kimberly Lira and fiancé Manuel Tapia; his grandchildren, Gibby, Gabryel, Eddie, Lissa, Amanda, Caleb, Gabe, and Nia; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
A special thank you to Eusagio and Frances Elizardo, Jr., Jasper and Joanna Fininen, Martin and Virginia Rodriguez, and Gentiva Hospice.
Memorial Services will be Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Brownfield, Texas with Fr. John Ohlig officiating. Services are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home in Brownfield, Texas.
