Bill E. Lockaby, 89, of Easley, South Carolina, husband of the late Lorene Knight Lockaby, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 15, 2023.
Born on February 26, 1934, in Pickens County, South Carolina, son of the late Carl and Kate Black Lockaby. Bill lived a life full of love, dedication, and hard work. Bill had a long and distinguished career as a general contractor. He worked for himself building homes and was also superintendent for Artistic Builders, Marsh-Bell Construction and RAM Builders. His commitment to his craft was renowned by clients and colleagues alike. Beyond his professional achievements, Bill's true passions lay within his family and community. For 66 years, he shared an unwavering love with his late wife as they built a life together filled with joy and happiness. He was a pillar of strength and support to his children throughout their lives, offering guidance and encouragement every step of the way. As a grandfather and great-grandfather, Bill's love knew no bounds. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him. His faith was important to him as he attended Corinth Baptist Church, Siloam Baptist Church, and Rejuvenate Church. The older he got, the more he leaned on the Lord. Before embarking on his career in construction, Bill served two years in the US Army during the Korean War Era. His military service exemplified his bravery and commitment to serving others. Outside of work and family life, Bill was a friend and neighbor to all and never met a stranger. You could find him regularly at the former Jim’s Restaurant in Greenville or Jimmy’s in Easley.
Bill is survived by a daughter, Rene Patat; a sister, Helen Hamlin; three grandchildren, Rev. Jason Wilson (Serena), Jennifer Patat, and Kelsey Bracken (Chris); and eight great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Braylon, Cayden, Noa, Brooklyn, Talyn, Pressley, and Jaxon.
