Lonnie William "Bill" Marks, III, was born on August 18, 1946, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, at 8:12 p.m. in Mooresville, North Carolina.

Bill was the beloved husband of Rebecca W. Marks of Mooresville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Tony Marks (Pam) of Matthews, North Carolina, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Iris and L.W. Marks, and his sister, Carolyn "Gina" Naples.

Bill attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and remained a devoted Tar Heels fan throughout his life. Following college, he began his career in Information Technology with Celanese Corporation. He later worked as a consultant for many years with Duke Energy in Charlotte, where he met his wife, Becky. He also provided consulting services for First Union Bank during his career.

Bill and Becky shared many happy years together, living in Mint Hill, North Carolina; El Cajon, California; and Mooresville, North Carolina. Bill enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and tennis, and was well known for his sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor. In retirement, he found great joy living on Lake Norman.
