Bill Ranallo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Skinner Funeral Home - Cumberland on Mar. 19, 2026.
William Henry "Bill" Ranallo, 91, of Cumberland passed away peacefully, March 17, 2026, at his home. He was born May 26, 1934, in Cumberland, WI to Henry Michael and Lucy Louise (Cotone) Ranallo.

At age 17, Bill left high school to work on a farm in North Dakota. He would go on to work at a number of places including the railroad, owning the Cumberland Transfer, working for Anderson TV, and finally, plant manager of Stokely-Van Camp.

He was married on October 10, 1953, to Joanne D. (Anderson) Ranallo who preceded him in death on January 23, 2022. Over their almost 69 years of marriage they farmed and raised cows, chickens, peacocks, pigeons, and especially Arabian horses. They traveled to Arizona and Kentucky to show their award winning Arabian horses. They also traveled to many places with family including to Italy with Jerry and Linda.

Bill was a true 'Jack-of-all-trades'. If anyone in the neighborhood needed help with repairs, help getting out of the ditch, or inventing new tools, he was the man to call. He received patents for a few of his inventions. When everyone was getting snowmobiles, Bill built his own for the kids to ride as well as a mini bike, and numerous other creations. He was an engineer without the degree.

Bill was not afraid to poke fun of his children to keep them humble and honest. He especially enjoyed playing pranks on his grandchildren by giving them a single M&M for Halloween, pretending he had a treat or coins in his hand, and sharing toys he had made to startle them and make them laugh.

He is survived by his children: Jerry (Linda) Ranallo, Barbara (David) Lynch, Peggy (Curt) Ruschmeyer, Rick (Beth) Ranallo, Bob (Jill) Ranallo, and Kathleen (Bob) Effinger; 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sister, Sister Richelle Ranallo; many nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Anderson Ranallo; brothers: Fred, Emil, and C. Steve Ranallo; sisters: Esther (DuWayne) Strickland, Marian (George) Perzichilli, Lillian (Mike) Perzichilli, Agatha (Ray) Trotter, and Carol Ranallo.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers are Tavis, Adam, Nathan, William, Barry, and Roman. Honorary pallbearers are Troy, Nick R., Bridget, Anna, Megan, Eric, Tyler, Bob David, Benjamin, Michael, Nick E., Isaac, and Aaron. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Friday, April 17, 2026, at Skinner Funeral Home, Cumberland, and one hour prior the service at church on Saturday.
