Bill Renfro

Bill Renfro, 88, of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009. He was born May 6, 1920 in Fort Worth, Texas to Gertrude and William Renfro, Sr. Bill attended the Citadel Military Institute before serving in the United States Army in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He returned to Lubbock and married Sally Rhoades. Bill owned a cigar business in Lubbock for many years. He was a member of the First Christian Church and later Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, a Free Mason, and a 55 year member of the Lubbock Group. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Ann Joan Robison; and a grandson, James William Renfro. He is survived by his wife, Sally; 3 sons, Bill Renfro of Austin, George Renfro of Dallas and John Renfro of Garland; 2 daughters, Renee Shelton of Greenville and Robbie Renfro of Scottsdale; 3 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
