Bill Routh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Aug. 6, 2024.
Bill A. Routh, age 90, of Springfield MO, passed away on Aug. 1st, 2024. He was born in February 1934 in Crocker, MO to Earl and Myra (Mooney) Routh. For many of his early years Bill lived with his family in California. In May 1954, Bill was united in marriage to Rosa F. Doyle and they celebrated 64 years of marriage until Rosa passed away in 2018. Bill missed her greatly as they were inseparable in life. He and Rosa liked to travel around the U.S. in their RV and went on many overseas trips. For a short while Bill worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, mostly out of the depot at Carrollton, MO. Bill later attended Barber school in Kansas City and barbered for many years at his shops in Carrollton, Waverly, and Climax Springs, MO. From the 1980s to the 1990s he ran his own painting and paperhanging business in Springfield.
Bill's biggest passions in life were traveling, riding motorcycles and aviation. Bill rode motorcycles most of his life and he and Rosa went on many trips around the country when they were younger and even up into their 70s. Bill attended flight school in the 1960s and obtained his pilot's license and for a while he owned his own plane. His children greatly enjoyed going up with him when they were younger. Bill loved being around airplanes and he was also a long time member of the Air & Military Museum of the Ozarks. Bill greatly enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and playing a good game of Mexican domino's.
Bill & Rosa attended Rose Hill Baptist Church in Willard for many years.
Bill is survived by his four children, Bill J. Routh of Willard, Beverly & David Evans of Ozark, Dale Routh of Springfield, and Elaine Vogt of Springfield. Bill had 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters; Bonnie & Jerry Bartlett of Gentry AR; and Francis Spoon of Conroe TX.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Earl & Myra (Mooney) Routh; sisters Mary Sanders of Siloam Springs AR; Peggy Holzman, Oakdale CA; and Barbara Hensen of Belton MO; brother Bob Routh of Lexington MO, grandson Phillip Osborn of Springfield, and great granddaughter Aysha Madry of Ozark. There will be a visitation at the Greenlawn (North) Funeral Home, 3506 N. National, Springfield MO, on Aug. 17th. Visitation starts at 10 AM and funeral services will follow immediately after.
Pastor Bob Sharp will officiate. Burial service will be at the Big Niangua Cemetery in Roach MO with Rev. Richard Willis presiding. Pallbearers will be: Bryan Osborn, Gary Rennison, Darren James, Johnny Bartlett, Kent Bailey and Johnny Hix. The family wanted to give a special thanks to Nurse Dani, Nurse Cheri, and Chaplain Brandon of Terrace Hospice and to the staff at Quail Creek Nursing Home, especially Nurse Vickie for all the wonderful care and support they provided to dad and our family. Also a special thanks to the staff and dad's friends at the Fremont Senior Center in Springfield.
Bill enjoyed spending time there in his final years and made several good friends there. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends but we are comforted knowing he and mom will be together again.
