Phillip Illum

Phillip "Phil" Wesley Illum, 78, of Battlefield, MO went home to Heaven Tuesday, February 10, 2026. He was born July 26, 1947, to Earnest and Lucille Illum in El Dora, Iowa.

Phil grew up in Iowa, Nebraska, and Colorado. He married Twila Hammer, the love of his life, in 1966. Phil and Twila celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in December 2025. It was his greatest joy to build a life and family with Twila. Together they enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Phil leaves his family a legacy of love, honor, and deep commitment to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Phil served in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer Second Class from 1966 to 1969. As an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God, Phil served in ministry in Corning, IA, Springfield, MO and Battlefield, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Lucille Illum; stepfather, Ralph Durham; brother, Virgil Illum; and niece, Colette Illum.

Phil is survived by his wife, Twila; sons, Brian (Denise) Illum and Greg (Shawna) Illum; grandchildren, Ashley (Karl) Bozeman, Wes Illum, Alex (Liz) Illum, Jason (Rebekkah) Illum, Abby Illum, and Anne Illum; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kathy Illum; nephew, Brenton (Molly) Illum; and a great niece.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Central Assembly of God in Springfield, MO followed by a small family Military Honor at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you give to the building fund for Central Assembly Full Speed Fund.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
