Larry Allhands Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home East on Jan. 22, 2026.
Larry Dale Allhands, 79, of Battlefield, MO, entered Heaven's gate on January 21, 2026. Born on July 19, 1946 in Marionville, Missouri to Fred "Babe" and Irene Allhands. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother (Grace), 2 sisters (Rita Arlene and Dixie), and 2 brothers (Ted and Max). Larry is survived by his wife, Suzanne, of 55 years and his 3 girls; Suzette and Billy Hammock of Crane, Ashley and Justin Harris of Willard, and Alexis and Haden Ramsey of Clever. He had 4 beautiful grandchildren (JD, Kyndal, Harper, and Tucker) and four beautiful great-grandchildren (Sadie, Macie, Zoie, and Zaylie). He leaves behind his brother, Charlie "Laverne" (Donna) Allhands, step-sisters Barbara Brauch (Billings) and Rosemary (Clyde) Melton (Springfield), step-brother James "Bud" Allhands (Marionville), a host of nieces and nephews, and many friends who loved him deeply.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He often sought out other veterans to thank them for their service. He worked at Kraft foods for many years and retired in 1998. He loved sports and spent a number of years officiating local high school basketball games, including the Blue and Gold Tournament. He was an avid Mizzou fan, but enjoyed watching sports of all kinds. He supported many local athletes over the years and celebrated their wins with a quick handshake and a word of encouragement. He spent many days checking the forecast so he could schedule as many rounds of golf as possible. He also enjoyed camping in the deer woods, gardening in the summer, and gathering an obscene amount of antiques for his collection.

Larry was a devoted member of his church, First Baptist of Battlefield. He was the first friendly face many visitors saw when they walked in the doors. He had a servant's heart and was willing to do any task that needed to be done. He shared the love of Jesus with others through kindness, conversations, and simple explanations of the forgiveness he received from his Savior.

Services for Larry will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, January 26, 2026 in the funeral home.

Well, I remember when Larry began working at Kraft. He was a little guy but so strong & totally stubborn! I can remember when he first ask Suzanne out and when they became man & wife. Prayer for Larry´s family & friends. He´s probably playing golf every day now!
