Rev. Bill Sutton, age 82, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born on October 19, 1943, in Canton, Georgia, to the late Gus and Ida Sutton. He was a devoted member of Burnt Mountain Baptist Church and faithfully served as an ordained minister for 49 years. Bill had a deep love for sharing God's Word and found great joy in talking about the Bible with everyone he met.
A man of many talents, Bill loved playing and singing music. His favorite instrument was the mandolin, though he could play just about anything he picked up. When he wasn't making music, he enjoyed spending time fishing and took great pride in keeping his yard immaculate. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to bring joy to those around him.
Above all, Bill loved his family deeply. His legacy of faith, kindness, and laughter will continue to live on through those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Elijah Edmondson; his parents, and two brothers and three sisters.
Bill is survived by his wife, Olean Sutton; children, Bryan Sutton (Penny), Karen Whited, Tracy Sutton, Anthony Sutton (Lanae) and Lucretia Shepherd (Jacob); brother, Wayne Sutton; sister, Betty Griffin; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Frank Ray officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 21st from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 22nd from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
