Jack Thomas Duncan of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at the age of 77.
Jack was born on February 7, 1948, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Jack Roscoe Duncan and Eva Marie Renz. His father, a WWII soldier stationed in Germany, met and married Eva shortly after the war, making her a beloved "war bride." When Jack was one year old, the young family sailed to the United States and settled in Marietta, Georgia. The family later grew with the addition of three brothers, Alfred, Dennis, and Mark.
Jack graduated from St. Pius X Catholic High School and went on to study at Oglethorpe University in Brookhaven and Brenau University in Gainesville. Jack began his career in 1967 with Western Electric, which later became AT&T, and retired after 33 years of dedicated service in 2000.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Jack loved football and proudly cheered on his Georgia Bulldogs every Saturday. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, eating, and shopping - especially at his favorite store, Costco. Jack had a gift for teaching and took great joy in passing down knowledge and skills to his children and grandchildren. He could build or fix just about anything and even created a beautiful Koi pond in his backyard.
Jack will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and quick wit. He had a way of making those around him feel cared for, whether through a shared laugh, a home-cooked meal, or his willingness to lend a hand. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught and the love he gave.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Roscoe and Eva Marie Rowland and her husband, Walter Rowland and brother, Alfred Duncan.
Jack is survived by his wife, Geleta; son, John and his wife Gena and their three children, Trevor Hansen, Isabella Duncan and Luke Duncan; daughter, Michelle Smith and her husband David and their daughter, Greysen; two brothers, Dennis Duncan his wife Jenny and Mark Duncan.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Justin Page officiating. Interment will follow in the Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Parkinson's Foundation at www.parkinson.org.

My condolences to Jack's family during this very difficult time. He was an exceptional fellow and one of the finest among us. I was honored to have worked with Jack at AT&T in Alpharetta Georgia for a number of years prior to my retiring back in 1995. He will always be remembered as an absolute gentleman and a dear friend. God Bless!
