Billie Jean Cunningham Conrad, age 79, of Okeechobee, Florida, took her first breath in Heaven on August 26, 2025.

Born on June 11, 1946 to John William Cunningham and Geneva Higgins Cunningham, in Lakeland Florida, Billie was a 53-year resident of Okeechobee. She worked in medical capacities at Dr. Richard B. Katz's office, Dr. Jay S. Berger's office, the Health Department, and finally the Visiting Nurses Association before enjoying retirement. Her joy was found in her children and grandchildren, with whom she would share her love of cooking, many times experimenting in the kitchen to their delight or astonishment. She could be found wandering the aisles of Publix and visiting with her many friends there.

She will be remembered for her strong character and wit, along with her love of her cats.

Billie leaves her legacy in the memories of those who love her. She has two sons, Robert (Sherry) Conrad, of Okeechobee and Randy Conrad, of Lakeland; and a daughter, Kelley Conrad, of Okeechobee. Her legend will also go forward in the hearts of her grandchildren, Haley Conrad and Ryan Conrad, who were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her best friend, Wilma Atkinson, and her companion, Larry Taylor; as well as a host of extended friends and family.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, September 1 at Buxton Okeechobee Funeral home, with a private interment to be held at a later date.

Those wishing to leave a message of condolence may sign the register book at, www.OkeechobeeFuneralHome.com.
