On January 25, 2025, our beloved mama bill moved to heaven. Billie Jean Murray was the first born daughter to Richard and Annie Rose Arthur, March 6, 1936 in Royse City, TX. The family moved to Oklahoma City in 1940.
Billie attended Dunbar school and Douglass High School. In 1952 she married Charles E. Smith in Oklahoma City, OK and in this union six children were born. She is preceded in death by her husband Clifford Murray, daughter Lorie Ezell and grandson Charles LaDale Woods.
MamaBill was a homemaker and after her children was raised she worked as a professional Nanny for Drs. Diane Kittridge and Philip Rittig for more than 10 years. She later volunteered as a companion for Sunbeam Family Services for 11 years.
In 1977 Billie put her trust in Jesus and received him as her savior while viewing the 700 Club television broadcast. In later years she united with Neighborhood Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James Ford where she remained a member until she transitioned to her heavenly home.
Billie never met a stranger. Her personality and presence was big as life. She was a true social butterfly who enjoyed travel, gatherings and shopping. Shiny, sparkle, glitter and glow was her motto. She loved her family. Spending time with them was her greatest pleasure.
Her biggest unfulfilled dream was to have all of her children and their families live under one large roof. Her greatest promise fulfilled is that knowing that all her children who put their trust in Jesus will live together for all eternity in heaven.
Billie leaves to cherish her memory 2 sisters Willie Nell Darrington and Terri Moore, 3 brothers, Curtis Crutcher, Richard Arthur, and Gregory Crutcher.
4 daughters to cherish her memory Charla West (Dennis) Lanell Ellis, Sherrie Banks (Sheldon), Keely Payne and her only son Phillip Smith (Mary).
Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a hosts of loved family and friends.
