Billie Elwood Reed was born on October 6, 1937, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Orville and Johnnie Reed. He passed away on November 17, 2025, in Yukon, Oklahoma, at the age of 88.

Bill graduated from Childers High School in Nowata County in 1955. He attended Northeastern State University and later accepted a position with Unocal Oil Company while also pursuing studies through Ardmore Higher Education. In 1957, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served until 1959.

In 1960, Bill married Iva June Nichols. They made their home in Nowata, where their two daughters, Sheryl and Teri, were born. Over the course of his career with Unocal, Bill worked in Midland, Texas, Ardmore, and Oklahoma City, serving as an office supervisor.

While living in Ardmore, Bill was active in the community and served on the boards of the Camp Fire Girls, YMCA, United Way, the Ardmore Arbuckle Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute, and the Kiwanis Club. Iva June passed away in 1995.

Bill retired from Unocal in 1997 and returned to Ardmore. He later met Carlyn Taylor, and the two were married in 1998. Bill and Carlyn eventually settled in Edmond, Oklahoma. They enjoyed traveling together, and Bill especially loved working in his yard and garden. In 2013, they moved to Spanish Cove, quickly becoming beloved members of the community. Bill generously landscaped the Pavilion's main entrance, and he and Carlyn purchased the charming statues and revitalized the wing area outside The Plaza with new pavers and flowers. He lovingly cared for the plants in the pool enclosure for many years. Bill was a regular at the pool table, enjoying friendly games with the men, and he was also active in the woodworking shop, where he built countless bird and squirrel houses. He was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. A highlight of his time at Spanish Cove was participating in the Dream Flight event for Spanish Cove veterans in 2023.

Throughout his life, Bill was active in both Methodist and Baptist congregations.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Sheryl Gentry and husband Rick of Ardmore, and Teri Sheehy and husband Dean of Ardmore; grandchildren Staci Negus and husband Josh of Bartlesville, Paige Bartlett and husband Skylar of Ardmore, Lauren Morales and husband Victor of Edmond, and Rayven Sheehy of Edmond, and six great-grandchildren: Graci, Braden, Margaret, Judd, Jaxon, and Sawyer. Also surviving are Carlyn's children, Kim Argenbright and husband Mark, and Randy Taylor.

He is also survived by brothers Charles Reed and wife Susan of Warner, Virgil Reed and wife Linda of Chelsea, Donald Reed and wife Lana of Muskogee, and Ervin Nichols and wife Jane of Bartlesville; and sisters Anna Sargent of Broken Arrow and Caroline Draper of Oologah.

In addition to Iva June, Bill was also preceded in death by his wife Carlyn, his granddaughter Tara Marsh, and his brother Horace Reed.

Memorial donations may be made to Spanish Cove, 11 Palm Ave., Yukon, OK 73099 or to the McAlister Cemetery, P.O. Box 1342, Ardmore, OK 73402.

Private services will be held at a later date.
