Billie Jean Walters

Billie Jean Walters, 84, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice Center in Huntington, West Virginia.

She was born on August 22, 1941, in Manchester, Kentucky, to the late Delbert Hensley and Eva Frost Haering. In addition to her parents, Billie Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Kenneth Eugene Walters, in 2023; one brother, Raymond Hensley; and two sisters, Dorothy Shelley and Lois Brown.

Billie Jean enjoyed square dancing, music, singing, painting, and art. She was creative and competitive, especially when it came to horseshoes and bowling.

She is survived by her children: Kenneth E. Walters II (Tammy), Sandra Walters (Brian Young), Tina Mays (Chris Bryce), Beverly Sidell, Holly Sidell, and Terry Carter (Scott Marvin); a sister, Jean Click; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several half-siblings; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Steen Funeral Home, 13th Street Chapel.

Graveside services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast, with Chaplain Jimm Smedley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Billie Jean's memory to Hospice of Huntington, 1101 6th Avenue, Huntington, WV 25701.
