Mr. Billy F. Atkinson

Mr. Billy F. Atkinson, 88, of Royston, GA passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at his home.
Mr. Atkinson was born in Carnesville, GA on February 6, 1937, son of the late W.T. Atkinson and the late Martha Bailey Atkinson. He was a marketing sales rep. having worked for Westinghouse-ABB and was a 1st Sergeant for 33 years in the United States National Guard.
Mr. Atkinson was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Royston, where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the EANGUS, Elberton 214th, American Legion, Franklin County Gideons International, Franklin County Cattleman's Association, and served as a former Franklin County Commissioner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Griffin Atkinson; son, Randy Sartain; granddaughter, Paige James; great-grandson, Avery James; and brother, Jimmy Atkinson.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Whitt Atkinson; daughter, Cindy James of Royston, GA; granddaughter, Kristan James; great-grandson, Ian James; brother, Tony Atkinson (Angie) of Royston, GA; sisters, Karen Coile of Comer, GA and Daphne McCarty of Royston, GA; stepdaughters, Michelle Prather (Leon) of Good Hope, GA and Denise Peters of Bethlehem, GA; step-grandchildren, Austin Prather (McKenzie), Charli Perkins, Jordan Louis, Dylan Louis, Stephanie Nasworthy (Tommy); and five step-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks and appreciation to the Gentiva Hospice team and his wonderful caregivers, Keetan Brewer, Diane Knight, Miranda Hulme, and Takeitha Ravenell.
Funeral services for Mr. Atkinson will be held in the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, with Rev. Johnny Jones and Rev. Glenn Lyles officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston.
The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening. During other times, the family will be at the home.
