Billy Gene Bailey, age 89, of Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at NHC of Glasgow surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Licking, Missouri on September 11, 1935, to the late Calvin William Bailey and the late Susie Mitchell Bailey. Billy was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Bethel Independent Baptist Church in Glasgow, Kentucky. Billy was known for his love and faithfulness to the Lord. He was saved in 1973 at the Victory Baptist Church in Florrisant, Missouri and became a prayer warrior and was a big part of the bus ministry for 27 years. Billy served his country in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. After his military career, Billy worked for General Motors where he retired in 1996.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Esther Bailey; three children, Jeffery Scott Bailey (Nikki) of Lubbock, Texas, Suzanne Michelle Lindsey (John) of Horse Cave, Kentucky, and Jason William Bailey (Lori) of Southampton , New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Allen Lindsey, John Arthur Lindsey, Brian Lindsey, Cordelia Norris (Ethan), MacBrennan Bailey, Chandler Marsh (Matthew), and Lilli Bailey; four great grandchildren, Zoe Rose Marsh, Annabelle Coykendall, Susannah Coykendall, and Remington Coykendall, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Pearl Bailey, Ruth Bailey, Bessie Lanier, Faye Whitaker, Fern Baker, and Wayne Bailey.
The funeral service for Mr. Bailey will be held at 1:00 PM, on Wednesday, December 18th at Bethel Independent Baptist Church in Glasgow, Kentucky with burial in the Oak Hill cemetery in Mohawk, Kentucky. Military Honors will be provided by the Brownsville VFW chapter 32. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home, and Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM until time for the service at the church.
