Billy Brewer, 83, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.
A funeral service to honor Billy’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 17, at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock, officiated by Rev. Bill Braswell. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.
Billy was born on July 4, 1941, in Johnston County, NC, to the late Lushon and Elsie Brewer. Well known in the Havelock community, Billy was the owner and operator of Brewer’s Jeweler for over 60 years in Havelock. He was also a member of the Watch Maker’s Association for many years. He enjoyed selling and repairing jewelry and watches for the community.
Billy was a loving husband to Peggy for 64 years, a loving father to his children, loving grandfather and loving great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them. They were the apple of his eye. He loved going fishing every chance he got and going camping with his family. Another of his favorite pastimes was watching NASCAR.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Peggy Brewer; daughters, Teresa Brewer Brady (Tony) of Newport, NC and Donna Brewer Compton (fiancée’ Jacek) of Havelock, NC; sister, Annie Merril (Bill) of Plymouth, NC, brother, Donnie Brewer (Phyllis) of Selma, NC; grandchildren, Heather Krohn (Jon), Travis Brady, and Rodney Compton; and great grandchild, Alexis Krohn.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his sons, Randy Brewer and Bobby Brewer; and brothers, Willard Brewer and Bobby Brewer.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to March of Dimes.
