Billy Warren Colson Elizabeth City - Billy Warren Colson, age 81, of Elizabeth City, NC, died at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center on Monday, January 19, 2026. He was born in Perquimans County, NC, on March 4, 1944, to the late Charles Colson, Jr. and Ella Mae Morse Colson, and was the husband of Ethel Louise Turner Colson. Billy served his country honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard. After active-duty service, he worked as Operations Manager for Temple Trucking until his retirement. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Billy was an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Billy is survived by two daughters, Sandy Lawrence (Jeff) of GA and Dana Roseboro (Darryl) of NC; a son, Stacey Colson of NC; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Morris, Peyton Lawrence, Christian Roseboro, Caleb Lawrence, Travis Lawrence, Nash Lawrence, and Dara Roseboro; and five great-grandchildren, Maddox, Urijah, Michele, Warren, and Aston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Colson, and three brothers, Crafton Colson, Sherwood Colson, and Jackie Colson.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Riverside United Methodist Church, 1400 Edgewood Drive, Elizabeth City, NC 27909 with Pastor Arthur Manigault officiating.
